Milano - the place to be

Milan is the capital of the Lombardy Region, the metropolitan city of the same name, the second largest city in Italy in terms of population and the main financial center for the entire country.

As of today, Milan is home to more than 1.3 million inhabitants, which reaches 4 million if the entire metropolitan area is considered. The beating heart of the entire country, Milan has managed over the years to attract the most varied international personalities in the fields of design, industry, fashion and much more, achieving the coveted status of cosmopolitan city.

Milan is not only about innovation and design but also about culture and history, as throughout the city one can admire works of art from both the Roman, medieval and contemporary periods, such as Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper,” Castello Sforzesco, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and Milan Cathedral.

Over the past few years, the Lombard capital has been able to organize many global events such as EXPO 2015 and, in the future, the Winter Games in concert with Cortina in 2026. With the opportunity to host the 2023 World Fencing Championships, Milan is aiming to reaffirm its primacy in the world of fencing, just ahead of the next Olympics in Paris 2024.
