Senior Fencing World Championships “MILAN 2023”: Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Allianz Cloud the presentation of the Organizing Committee

MILAN - A press conference to present the Organizing Committee of the Senior World Fencing Championships Milan 2023 will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Allianz Cloud in Milan.

This is the first official appointment on the journey to the rainbow event assigned to Italy at the FIE Congress last November 27 in Lausanne, where delegates from federations around the world chose Milan’s candidacy to host the edition of the World Championships that will precede the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Speaking at the press conference will be Giovanni Malagò, CONI President; Simona Cassarà, Board Member of Sport and Health; Paolo Azzi, President of the Italian Fencing Federation; and Giorgio Scarso, Honorary President of the Italian Fencing Federation; Martina Riva, Councillor for Sport, Tourism and Youth Policies of the City of Milan; Antonio Rossi, Undersecretary of the Lombardy Region with responsibility for Sport, Olympics 2026 and Major Events; Antonio Iannetta, President of Milano Sport; Pierangelo Santelli, President of CIP Lombardy; and Marco Fichera, President of the Milan 2023 Organizing Committee.

The location of the press conference on Tuesday, January 11, is not coincidental: the Allianz Cloud, in fact, will be the venue for the Absolute Fencing World Championships, which will return to Italy 12 years after the 2011 Catania edition.

The meeting will also be an opportunity to present the path that will lead to the Milan 2023 World Championships: a journey full of initiatives under the banner of the promotion of sport, fencing and its values, with all that this great event can represent from a tourist, social and cultural point of view for Milan and Italy.
